The Service takes place in the historic setting of St Mary’s Church, which is itself a living document of history in Warwick, the British Isles and Europe.
The building has Norman foundations, fine medieval architecture and a 17th century nave, after part of the church was destroyed providing shelter to those affected by the Great Fire of Warwick.
St Mary’s has a fine sense of history and a wonderful choral foundation. This year’s Festival Service of Choral Matins will make the most of the church’s splendid architecture, the glorious tradition of choral music, the resonant language from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer and a sermon that reflects the historic nature of this splendid Festival occasion.
