A Study Day: Exploring St. Mary’s Church, Warwick
Tuesday 11 October
St. Mary’s Church
9.30am – 3.30pm
You may be familiar with St. Mary’s, but there is much more to it than meets the eye. It is one of the most fascinating churches in England.
This Study Day, led by Church Historian, Tim Clark, is a chance to explore St. Mary’s rich and enthralling history. It will allow time for the church’s past to be fully appreciated, through its architectural features, tombs, and art, much of which is distinctive and significant. You will also see things that are not normally accessible to the public, including a very unusual version of the Last Supper.
This won’t be a prolonged guided tour; rather we select topics to look at as a group and discuss them in more detail than would otherwise be possible to understand why St. Mary’s looks the way it does.
Binoculars would be useful if you have them.
Comfortable footwear is advised. The Study Day includes steep steps into the Crypt and Beauchamp Chapel – and so we regret that they are not accessible for wheelchair users.
There are limited places available for the Study Day. Please book in advance through the Box Office on 01926 33 44 18
